Types of Hearing Loss

Sensori-neural (Nerve Deafness) hearing loss is damage or wear to the nerve fibers of the inner ear. Causes for this type of hearing loss are age, exposure to loud noise and heredity. Approximately 92% of all hearing losses are of the Sensori-neural type.

Conductive Hearing Loss affects the outer or middle ear and results in improper conduction of sound waves to the inner ear. Causes can include: exessive earwax, ear infections, damage to the middle ear, or a damaged eardrum.
